Jeffrey Conaway, MD
Dr. J.R. Conaway, MD is a Vascular & Interventional Radiologist who has dedicated his career to bringing advanced, minimally invasive treatments to patients throughout the Kansas City community. His philosophy is straightforward: patients should not have to travel to a distant academic medical center to receive proven, evidence-based care when that same expertise can be delivered safely, efficiently, and personally close to home.
Dr. Conaway believes that the greatest value of modern medicine lies not only in developing and validating new treatments, but in ensuring that proven treatments become accessible to the millions of patients who can benefit from them. That belief has guided his career for more than two decades, shaping his commitment to community medicine, patient education, and expanding access to advanced minimally invasive care.
For more than 24 years, Dr. Conaway has cared for patients throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area, serving in physician leadership roles at multiple community hospitals while helping expand access to innovative image-guided therapies. He currently serves as Medical Director of Specialty Services at Clarity Care, where he focuses on developing programs that offer patients effective alternatives to more invasive surgical treatments.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Conaway has performed 10,000+ minimally invasive image-guided procedures. His extensive procedural experience spans vascular and nonvascular interventions, with a particular focus on helping patients benefit from established, evidence-based therapies delivered in an outpatient setting that emphasizes safety, convenience, efficiency, and personalized care.
Dr. Conaway earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, graduating in the top ten of his medical school class. He graduated with Honors in Research and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in recognition of his academic achievement, scholarship, and professionalism. He completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center before choosing to build his career in community-based practice.
While his education provided a strong academic foundation, Dr. Conaway intentionally chose community medicine because he believed it offered the greatest opportunity to improve the lives of the largest number of patients. Throughout his career, he has focused on translating proven medical advances into everyday clinical practice—reducing barriers to care, expanding access to minimally invasive therapies, and delivering high-quality treatment through decades of hands-on procedural experience.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Conaway has been committed to educating both physicians and the public. He has presented educational programs for healthcare professionals, primary care providers, and community organizations, helping patients better understand their conditions and the full range of treatment options available to them. Whether speaking at a physician education program or a community event such as Live Well, Age Well, his goal is the same: to empower people with knowledge so they can make informed healthcare decisions.
